Press release 11th September 2021 – Icklesham Parish Council

Press release 11th September 2021

On Saturday 11th September Icklesham Parish Council celebrated the final return of the flagpole at Rye Harbour which was looking pretty bare for months without it  –  it seems somehow fitting that it coincided with the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Huge thanks to Cllr. Andi Rivett and Rock Channel Marine for dealing with the repair for Icklesham Parish Council.   Where possible the Parish Council always uses local firms, and luckily we had this company in Rye that could help with this huge project.

To belatedly celebrate Merchant Navy Day to remember the people who work at sea, the Red Ensign is being flown.  This event, run by The Seafarers’ Charity, takes place on 3rd September each year and individuals and organisations are encouraged to fly the Red Ensign.

IPC is also celebrating their new Clerk, Jenner Sands, commencing her employment with them on Monday 13th September and their Assistant Clerk, Danielle Heffernan, on 20th September.

Our new Clerks will lend their support to deliver even more projects for Icklesham, Rye Harbour, Winchelsea Beach and Winchelsea –  supporting local businesses where we can.  The future is bright!
