Winchelsea Traffic Calming – Public Consultation Meeting Organised for Saturday 22nd July 11 am at Winchelsea New Hall
A further consultation meeting has been arranged on Saturday 22nd July which will take place at 11.00 am at Winchelsea New Hall. You may recall that at a similar meeting was held last year, five options were discussed and voted on. There was a clear majority for the ‘no left turn/right turn’ at the foot of the Strand Hill.
Since then National Highways and East Sussex County Council have indicated that they are not in favour of this option and have suggested two other options that they might consider, given sufficient support.
- Closure of Strand Hill to motorised traffic [except emergency vehicles].
- One way traffic up Strand Hill, ending in a junction where Barrack Square and Back Lane join the main road.
At the Consultation Meeting, you will be able to find out more, ask questions and vote on your preferred option. For those residents unable to attend, there will be an opportunity to vote using a voting slip in the Little Shop, or by emailing the Parish Clerk at ickleshampc@hotmail.co.uk. Voting will close on 5th August.
It’s important that as many residents as possible vote, so that we have a clear indication of your preference.
